I was at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington when the folks at Star Gazing Farm came to pick up another lucky soul. I danced and gave my best ‘you need to take me home’ look then pointed out my info card to them.
George the Chinchilla
Hazel
Hello hello, I’m Hazel and I love to take naps but I also love to run and run around and check on everyone at the farm and make sure that there isn’t some extra little bit of food that someone needed cleaned up.
George the Pig
I was in the kennel at the animal shelter. There was another pig in the cage next to me, but he wasn’t all that friendly. I wasn’t unhappy to be in there, honestly, because the place I came from … (shudder).
George the Goose
So, yeah, I’m a Star Gazing Farm boy now. My goose gang and I came here after we lost our farm. This place is awesome and we have a lot to do here. All these sheep, goats, chickens, people and the cows need to know who’s in charge, it settles them knowing we are looking out for them.
Stephanie
OK, so I’m Stephanie. They sometimes call me “Steph”, or “Stefania”, or “No, Stephanie, NO!” – I think that last name is too long so I usually ignore it when they call me that.
I was born in April of 2020.
Milo
Hi. I’m Milo. I’m an Anatolian Shepherd and was born in 2016 at a place that was pretty bad.
I am so happy to be here now with friendly animals, friendly people, clean pastures, and lots of animals to watch over.
Mamie
Hello hello, I’m Mamie. I was really in a pickle before. I was made to do yucky things with boy dogs and to have lots of babies. They called it a “puppy mill”. Then I got rescued by the Mid Atlantic Jack Russell rescue people.
Freckles
Well now, I’m going to have to tell you my story, aren’t I? My name is Freckles and I’ve had a few homes now. This one is the best because here I have a lovely boyfriend named Luc and no one seems to mind if I bite them once in a while.
Fatty
From the time I was born (in 2008) I lived all my life with the lady who saved my life as a tiny kitten (she even fed me with a dropper bottle to keep body and soul together). She loved me so much, and she let me take care of all the mice in the barn where the horses lived.
Maria Christina
My mom was abandoned at a farm in Maryland when she was pregnant with my two sisters and me. Farmer Anne loved us so much she brought all three of us to Star Gazing Farm. I am the most outgoing of my sisters as I don’t necessarily see the fence as a boundary for me like my sisters, Evelyn and Tabitha do.
