Little Boy Goat
Nubian Cross
Born approximately January, 2003
Weight approx. 150 pounds

Little Boy as a kid

Little Boy Goat was found as a stray by Prince Georges Animal control in Hyattsville. He was just a baby and so very shy. He came here originally as a foster, and was supposed to go live at the Pig Sanctuary; however, he and Rosalita fell in love and who could separate them!

Little Boy is generally very quiet and likes to stand very still while you scratch his head, but he does have a “side” to him which includes tap dancing on visitors’ cars.

Care:

FOOD
It is unhealthy for wethers to have much grain. He and the other wethers get sunflower seeds as treats; they contain ammonium chloride which helps prevent the common (and deadly) ailment urinary calculi. He gets a mix of timothy, orchard grass, and alfalfa hay, and all the grass, flowers, trees, and pieces of house that he likes.

MEDICAL
Little Boy receives a yearly shot of CD/T and rabies. He is wormed every 6 weeks alternating Safeguard and Ivermectin. His hooves are trimmed every six weeks, at the same time.

HOUSING
Goats hate getting wet, so it's important for them to have a shelter to go to. The side barn door stays open all the time (mostly because Newman busted it) so the goats can go in and out as they please. There are fans in the barn in the summertime.
