Biographies Geese: Spinner, Layla, Dani
In the summer of 2007 Second Chance Wildlife told us about Layla, a white Chinese goose who had been left at their facility and we gladly took her in. The first day that Spinner and Layla met, they did a slow, beautiful dance around the swimming pool. They dipped their heads, pecked at the ground, looked up, and then moved a few paces, each from their end of the pool. After several iterations of these movements, Spinner boldly walked down towards the pasture, and Layla joined him at his side. Together they walked to join the ducks in their daily grazing. Dani was dumped at a pond in Olney. The local neighbors went out to feed her every day. During the summer Dani acted as nursemaid to the various wild goose flocks' goslings, but ultimately they all flew away leaving Dani alone. A kind neighbor decided to try to find Dani a permanent, safe home and we were glad to take her. Dani is the loudest of the geese - she sounds the alarm if anything looks "off" to her, of which we are very glad! |
