Bullwinkle
Holstein cross steer
Born 2005
Weight approx. 1800 pounds

Parsnip, Spenser, and Rosie

Bullwinkle as a baby

Bullwinkle was naughty from the time he popped out of his mother. He was bottle-raised at the Prince William Animal Control petting zoo, and from there was destined to go to the auctionhouse, but a kind lady fell in love with him and his buddy Rocky, bought them at market price, and hauled them over here.

Bullwinkle has such a distinct personality. He loves to go up to people ahd lick them all over with his rough, sandpaper-like tongue, but you have to watch out - despite his steer status, he is an amorous kind of a guy (witness his making love to the 1000 pound hay bales on a regular basis). He is extremely sweet and has a wild streak in him - if you simply turn on the tractor he gets so excited, he goes racing from one end of the field to the other.

Care:

FOOD
Bullwinkle eats much hay. He and Rocky can go through a 1000 pound bale of hay in less than a week in wintertime. They get a small supplement of grain in the winter, but because they are steers they are prone to gaining weight so we limit their grain intake.

MEDICAL
Bullwinke receives a yearly shot of CD/T. He is wormed every 6 weeks.

HOUSING
The "boyz" have access to a runin shed as well as the barn in winter, but they really need a new barn to be built especially for them.
