Meet Bart!

Bart was born in October of 2016 to a momma who had no milk for him.  To add insult to injury, he had a birth defect, a congenital condition called Kyphosis, an upward bowing of the spine like a camel.  He also had an inwardly rolled eyelid (Entropian).  Poor little dude! Kimiko the Sheep

Kimiko’s story is very painful.  We only know that very kind and responsible animal control officers responded immediately to complaints about the abuse of this ewe, and acted promptly to take her immediately for medical care.  She is now in our care and receiving lots of good food, love, and attention.

Rachel the Sheep

There is something quiet and mature about Rachel that none of the other sheep have displayed; sometimes I worry that she isn’t feeling well because she is so quiet, but other times she will go hopping and jumping through the fields with the Fred Astaire side-kick movement that all lambs do. Rachel is just so sweet and soft and gentle, she could melt anyone’s heart.

Madison the Sheep

Madison is a mama’s boy. He was raised as lone bottle baby and so didn’t bond as much with the other sheep as he did with me. He is one of the most friendly sheep here on the farm, and routinely follows me around, trying to go wherever I do (even into small spaces). During the winter he looks distinctly like a buffalo.

Huckleberry the Sheep

Huckleberry has changed personality from a retiring, somewhat abstract philosopher to the leader of the sheep flock. In fact, he will head-butt any strangers who come too close to his family. When not protecting his sheep, he is a bit of a loner, and seems to prefer the company of horses.

Angel the Sheep

Angel is not only game to ride in the passenger seat of our sedan to go and meet people, she has a lot of moxie! She’s told Derry the dog off on several occasions, and hangs out often with the horses (a sign of status amongst sheep).

Gruff the sheep

Gruff is a naughty rascal but so endearing! He has been known to ride in the cab of our pickup truck to attend educational and fundraising events, and he’s quite the ‘meeter and greeter’. He also makes extremely beautiful wool, and we’ve woven shawls and rugs from his beautiful fleece.
